Livelihood training intensified
The women beneficiaries try their hands in frying peanut and banana that will be processed into peanut butter and banana chips.
KIT intensified the conduct of skills trainings in the four barangays of Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay. The beneficiaries of the trainings were more or less 150 participants. The community -based trainings are primarily addressed to poor and marginalized groups. It aims to help women have gainful livelihood to earn additional income for the family.
The trainings were conducted in active response to the request of Hon. Roselyn V. Silva , the Municipal mayor of Imelda , Zamboanga Sibugay. The trainees were able to produce their Outputs namely; banana chips with trainer Mr. Edwin Baylon ; peanut butter with trainer Mary Jane Elloreg, buco pie with trainer Sheba Pallar, and banana cake with trainer Aileen Dacula .
The Community Based-trainings were facilitated by the school’s JoLINS officer Presco Caňete Jr. The training was coupled with entrepreneurship information dissemination also given by the respective trainer.
The trainer Edwin Baylon , emphasizes to the trainees on the importance of safety food handling in processing food to avoid spoilage and waste.
